The staff is so nice every time I come here. Great place to stop for lunch or after work drinks.
Excellent service, fast and friendly. Very thin crust pizza. Not sure if they make a thick crust but I didn't see any option for it that I recall. Great atmosphere with open ceilings and exposed brick walls with really cool vibe. Location is right down the road from Wrigley so in the good weather parts of the year there is outdoor seating available.
The perfect lunch spot away from the hustle & bustle of the city.I love the downstairs vibe. The tuna melt was great.
If you take the time to stop by Cardozo's Pub, 170 W Washington St, Chicago, IL 60602 you'll enjoy a very satisfying meal with great staff and service at a fair price for your meal.
Great lunch spot! Delicious food and reasonable prices
Nice ,a good place to eat like home cooked food.Prices very reasonable. I like it because it was like a family restaurant with a twist. Will definitely be coming back
The beer is cheap, the food is not bad and it's not too noisy. Unfortunately the service was quite bad, our waitress gave us the feeling we weren't welcome. Wouldn't come back.
Got here at 7:15PM and they told me they were closed. Ad said they are open till 10:30PM.
Wonderful pub! Right in the middle of everything - and definitely a "pub". Not pretentious, no 'flair' - just a great place to grab a beer or 5 and have a good conversation. That's it... If you're looking for a low-key off the beaten path place then this is it. Great service and cold beer.
I was there with a friend, we each had a beer and we shared an order of fries. We both got serious food poisoning from the fries. Painful stomach aches that night and ungodly toilet visits the entire next day. It was clear that this place doesn't care about sanitation in the slightest.
Great food excellent service
This place would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the waitress. For what it is, it's a nice place if that's the kind of vibe you're going for. Great food. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Lots of beers to choose from. However the waitress was one of the most unpleasant people I've ever dealt with. We were polite and friendly with her. Unfortunately we weren't given the same courtesy. She clearly hates her job. Based on the other reviews here, I'm wondering why they keep her around.
Great atmosphere, nice service, strong drinks
Not a bad price for a beer for Chicago standards
Old school chicago pub and they make a good drink. Convenient location.
Great thanks
Quick n delish
Went there for a retirement celebration. Nice place overall but our space was a little cramped. Food was good and drink prices were comparable
Terrible service. Came in with a friend and was told to have a seat where ever there was an open spot. Sat down and waited a good 20 minutes without anyone coming to our table. Eventually I went up the the host stand and asked if we should order at the bar or if someone was available to serve us. The hostess said they were busy and was super rude with no apologies. We left immediately afterwards. I understand busy Friday nights, but this was just ridiculous. Won't be back.
The last of its kind in The Loop, this place is like having lunch (or dinner...or drinks) in the 1970’s. From daily specials written out by hand and xeroxed, to the waitresses taking orders with their two-pack-a-day growls, this place never fails to remind me of the days when lunch often meant a martini. I’ve always enjoyed their salads, which are bountiful and delicious, and their burgers, which are made with quality, tasty meat seasoned and cooked to perfection. The chili special is good, but then again, so are all the others. Why 4 stars? I think their iced tea is too strong, and when iced tea is too strong, it tastes like Bactine. I want a beverage, not something to disinfect a wound.
Hidden gem under the city
Fave spot for a lunch time burger and a beer on a Friday.
What a great place to eat... food and staff are great! Ten stars!!
Don't be afraid of this basement establishment. It has the feel of grandpa's basement with all the good food and booze to go along with that nostalgia.
Nice, quiet location with decent food and good selection of alcohol.
Cardozo's is a solid 4-star place. You can usually get a spot right away, and service is pretty quick. It's a great location for just getting a drink with someone. Not too loud or crowded. It's kind of like hanging out in mom's basement. They have some craft beer, but not a big rotating selection or anything. There are usually pretty good specials around $5-$7.
Good food and good prices for a downtown establishment. They also have a good lunch menu and the man up front is a really good guy and very helpful and always making sure u have what u need. I also love the fact it's a downstairs place just seems like u go back into time, into a simpler time. Good place and good pub food.
Friendly and great customer service
My new favorite place for spaghetti. Great meat sauce, crusty tasty bread, cozy seating.
It's expensive as Fu$k and the floor is carpet. I don't recall ever seeing carpet in a bar. It feels like you are hanging out at your father in laws man cave in the basement. The service is great and friendly. A lot of choices for food and drink. You won't hate hanging out here.
the food was very good - but watch out on you credit card charges - they like to ring up things multiple times - just dont know why my bank didnt catch this - but i did -
Burger was good and service was also good. I'd dine here again.
Food was good and price was reasonable. Decent "whole in the wall" vibe. Waitress was rude and ignored us 95% of the time. Bus boys helped us more than the waitress did. But food was yummy and came out quickly for the lunch rush which is why I gave 4 stars. Will definitely go back.
Good food inexpensive
Perfect lighting. Sandwiches was tasty. Drinks was great. Staff were nice and provided the great services. Cocktail was good.
Great place. NOELLE the bartender is the best
Legendary. Terrific pub fare and beverages in a unique, underground location served by friendly, professional staff.
Super friendly staff, have never gotten food but they have an ok beer selection. Can get really crowded closer to 5:30-6. That perfect place for a relaxed beer in a cozy spot after work. Tall folks, watch your head on the way down the stairs.Update. The staff seems much less friendly lately. Kind of snippy when taking drink orders, couldn't wait for us to leave so they could close early.... hours before normal close.
Great place! Reasonably priced drinks and craft beers. The food looked and smelled good.
Chill low key bar. Staff is somewhat friendly
Closed on weekends but conveniently located in the loop for a happy hour stop. Nothing special but it's nice to go somewhere different now & then.
Fun dive bar...good but limited food selections
Cozy place to grab a drink with friends.
Server ignore us, took too long, and she was just plain rude. Clearly not friendly to outsiders.
Fun spot, very cozy and good drinks and prices.
Always a great time.
What a great spot. I've worked in the Loop for two years and only recently discovered this hidden gem of a dive bar down a non-descript staircase. The cocktails aren't very good, but they're cheap. More importantly, the beer is beer, and also cheap. The service is quick and friendly, and it's way less crowded than the more obvious Loop after-work bars. Don't come here for a fancy meal or to impress a date, but if all you want is a cold beer after a tough day in the office, this place is awesome.
This place is a gem! This is old school Chicago loop awesomeness at its finest. It's almost hidden, as you enter and descend a staircase into a restaurant and bar that is so classic 80s Chicago, they should have a historical preservation marker. Big booths of naugshyde, green carpeting, every seat and chair comfortable. The drinks are strong, and served by Valerie, who is the kind of Chicago woman you want serving you a cocktail behind a bar. Harry the owner is there, and he is another gem, and it was awesome meeting him. These places used to be all over downtown Chicago. Now this is one of the few. Check it out!
Customer service can be bad, but that's part of what makes Cardozo's endearing. Come here when other loop bars are too full. You'll enjoy it for what it is.
